A CALL TO PRAYER!!! - The latest reports from Africa including Paula in Kenya, Father's House Liberia, and Kim Smith.
PAULA...
If you are familiar with the saying, 'Push has come to shove', then you know Paula's situation in Kenya. If you are not familiar with this saying then let me explain. Our friend Paula Mwasamauili was enabled by God to visit family and friends here in the States for a month this past August.(This was the first time she had been back in six years) She was with us in Nampa just prior to her returning to her twenty six children and medical clinic ministry. What a joy to see our friend and share her burden for the children of Kenya. After her special and edifying visit Paula returned to Kenya hoping to aquire a piece of property and construct a home for her and her many children. Her current rented compound is not easy to live in and is physicaly taxing in the heat. It is not, however, dangerous or injurious to her children's health. Paula lives poor, like her neighbors in this poor corner of Africa, caring for her children and the sick who come to her little clinic. Recently an attorney in the employ of the Kenyan Department of Child Welfare came to her compound and delivered an ultimatim. Paula must have clear title to a piece of property within a month or she will return and remove the children from Paula's care. Paula has some money for property but it is very difficult to find any available and time consuming to negotiate the deed transaction. Our friend is held to a higher standard because the Africans and the African authorities believe that as an American she is rich and is not living up to the standard she could afford if only she wanted to. Some have asked her, 'If these children were white would you live like this?' She is also a Christian in a heavily Moslem area and takes business away from local witch doctors. Push has come to shove with Satan and the situation is desperate. We believe this desperate situation has brought God's honor and ability to care for His children into question. Paula's need for a new dwelling place has now become a questioin as to whether her God is able to help her and her children. Is her God, the God and Father of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, able to sustain her in this work of service and witness? Brethren this situation is a clear call to prayer and action in love. Paula cannot afford to build a house. She has no help or experience. Her only help is the Lord. The neighbors and the authorities need to see her God (that's our God) at work providing for His children and His servant. Let us pray, being ever willing to be used as the answer.
WORDSOWER INTL. will be sending Larry Fellmet, (a trustworthy, experienced, and talented brother) to over-see the building of Paula's house and clinic. He plans to go the first week of January 2010. There will be the costs for air fare and building material. We also need to pray for the purchase and clear title to a suitable piece of land for the construction.
LIBERIA...
It seems wherever one looks there is need in Liberia. The war left nothing unaffected. None untouched. The bullet holed and burned buildings cast their shadow over poverty stricken neighborhoods and slowly rebuilding villages. The traditional religious practices, harnessed to perpetuate the violent fifteen long year spasm of killing, rape, maiming and wanton destruction, still continue to undergerd the culture. Secret societies abound, immorality and rape are epidemic, devil dancers control many villages, and the historical Protestant Churches of the Americo Liberians are controlled by the Masonic Lodges in parallel to the village churches synchratizing with the Spiritists and traditional religionists of the Tribes. The miseries of overwhelming poverty exaserbated by satanic oppression and fear. Liberia, West Africa. But God has had witnesses in Liberia before during and after the war. Many have stayed true to the Gospel message and standard. Some who left have returned. There are many ministries active within the country. Praise God for His faithful ones at work in this hard place. And yet wherever one looks there are orphans uncared for and uneducated. There are teen age orphans being put into the streets because they are no longer potential sources of income for the orphanages that used to care for them but didn't equip them for life. Food is hard to come by. There is 98% unemployment. The Lord has enabled us to partner with some trustworthy and faithful believers, to open a home for teen age orphan girls recently put out from orphanages. Its called The Precious Life Home of Hope. We have sixteen girls and we're going to have eight babies soon. All these girls are trying to go to school and get training to enablew them to be self-supporting. They really need you to pray for them and to not forget them.
WORDSOWER INTERNATIONAL continues to care for and educate teen age orphan boys at My Father's House Liberia and the Discipleship Training Center. Both houses in the city of Monrovia and run in Partnership with Provision of Hope. Currently caring for and educating fifty young men. The Children Rescue Center in Ghanta, Liberia with over eighty children under the able and faithful leadership of Pastor Eaves Zoku and his staff. Wordsower now stands with the ministry of Rich and Linda Powers, Americans living in Monrovia serving in the areas of medical care and job creation. Please pray for these dear brethren who have emmersed themselves in the culture and needs of Liberia on behalf of Christ.
KIM SMITH...
Kim continues to labor in the Villages and prisons of south central Liberia. He and his team of evangelists are reaching the lost among the tribal peoples and those encarcerated. Kim's team is mostly composed of young men he has been enabled to lead to Christ and disciple. Many of them are former child soldiers from the civil war period. This team regularly contends with the traditional religionists and their 'devil dancers' to seek the lost and establish the Church of Jesus Christ in the remote villages. Kim is living an almost nineteenth century missionary lifestyle replete with disease, physical danger and satanic opposition. Of course they also see wonderful manifestations of God's saving power and His protection in the face of the Enemy's people. Please pray for Kim, his team, and the churches being established in the villages of Liberia.
How big is your god?
Just this one thing I want to know;
How big is your god?
Its a fair question.
Is your god big or little?
Can your god heal or restore?
Or do things just remain broken and diseased?
Can your god see you through?
Or will your god stop along the way?
Can your god be trusted?
Or is your god a deceptive stream?
When things don't work out
Can you go to your god and be comforted?
Does your god care?
Just how big is your god?
My God is really big.
And He loves me.
He does care.
He longs to hear my prayers
He rises to answer them.
I know His Name
I love Him
And I am known by Him.
He will never leave me
Nor forsake me.
He is absolutely faithful.
He is really big.
Anyone who welcomes a child
In His name
Welcomes Him
Anyone who will become as a child
And follow His Son Jesus
Gets to go to His house.
And never leave it.
For the least
